Moiré Icosahedron - 2020
Wood, Stain, Light - 80cm Diameter
Moiré patterns overlay in a way that creates interference, causing interesting optical phenomena. Here, the shape of a smaller icosahedron shaped light filter embedded inside a larger one creates optical illusions in both the object and the shadows that it casts.
This sculpture invites play, as the observer has to give it some momentum to observe the mesmerizing shadow effect.
